Can I drive my own foreign-plated car into China?
Yes. With the right temporary entry procedures — customs declaration, deposit and route filing — foreign-plated vehicles can enter China for a limited period. We handle the whole process for you.
How long can my car stay in China?
The allowed period is set by the authorities on each approval (commonly several weeks to months, depending on the route and entry). We advise on the realistic period for your plan and file accordingly.
What is the entry deposit and when is it refunded?
A deposit is arranged for the temporary entry of the vehicle and is refunded when the vehicle exits China with the required paperwork. We document the whole process.
Do I need an international driving permit (IDP)?
China is not a party to the 1968 Vienna Convention, so an IDP alone is not recognised. Check the current requirement for your nationality — most travellers need a valid home licence plus a Chinese-recognised translation or the permit required at entry. We confirm this for your case.
Can I go to Tibet with my own car?
Tibet has additional permit requirements and restricted areas for self-drive vehicles. Route filing is part of our service; check with us before planning a Tibet itinerary.
Which ports can I enter from?
Foreign vehicles can enter through a number of land ports across China (for example ports in Yunnan, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang). We confirm the suitable port for your route and arrange staff assistance on site.
